A passport or driving licence check to connect the person behind the practice with the credentials they provide.
Background / DBS
Clearly recorded check information
An appropriate background-check requirement for the practitioner’s role, with the relevant level, status and check date clearly recorded.
First aid
Current training and renewal dates
Evidence of current first-aid training, with renewal dates recorded so it is clear when an update is needed.
Professional insurance
Cover that is kept up to date
Evidence of current cover relevant to the practitioner’s work, with policy expiry dates included in the review.
Qualifications
Training relevant to the practice
Training and qualification evidence relevant to the therapies or services listed on the practitioner’s profile.

The planned register will bring together the checks completed for a practitioner, with a clear verification status and review dates.
A badge you can check
A live badge and QR code are planned to link directly to that record, giving you a way to check the status behind the badge.
Dates that matter
Annual reviews and evidence expiry dates are designed to keep the record useful as insurance, training and other credentials are renewed.

The planned register will show check outcomes and relevant dates. Sensitive identity documents, DBS evidence and private certificate details will not form part of the public record.

Can I become Guru Guide Verified now?
Not yet. The Verified Standard is in development and applications are not open. You can email our team to ask about the programme, or list your business in the directory while you wait.
Is a directory listing the same as this verification programme?
No. A directory listing helps people discover your practice. The planned Verified Standard is a separate programme with its own evidence requirements and review process. A current directory listing or badge should not be taken as confirmation that these five proposed checks have been completed.
What does the planned £99 annual fee cover?
The proposed membership includes the annual review, public register profile, live badge and QR code, and expiry monitoring. DBS checks, insurance policies, first-aid courses and other training would be separate costs. Final programme details will be confirmed before applications open.
Will personal documents be visible to the public?
The framework is designed to show check outcomes, relevant dates and verification status. Identity documents, DBS certificates, home addresses and private certificate details are not intended to be displayed in the public register.
Does verification guarantee a practitioner is right for me?
Verification records the checks carried out. It is not a guarantee of conduct, competence or future safety, and does not replace your own questions about a practitioner’s experience and suitability. The Verified Standard is intended as an independent assurance programme, not a statutory regulator.
What happens when evidence expires?
The planned programme includes renewal reminders and status updates when evidence needs attention or lapses, alongside an annual review. The aim is a record that reflects current evidence, rather than a badge awarded once and left unchanged.
