Trust and safety
Review policy
Guru Guide reviews exist to help visitors make informed choices while treating reviewers and businesses fairly.
Who may write a review
Reviews must describe the account holder's own genuine, first-hand experience with the listed business or practitioner.
You may submit one review per listing and update it if your view changes. Listing owners, team members, competitors acting in bad faith, and people offered an incentive for a particular rating must not submit reviews.
A verified account means the email address was verified. We only label a review as a verified booking when The Guru Guide can match it to a completed booking on the platform.
What a useful review contains
Focus on what you personally experienced, the service used, communication, environment, and anything that would help another visitor make an informed choice.
Do not include private medical details, email addresses, telephone numbers, links, or personal information about somebody else.
Content we do not publish
We reject fabricated, copied, promotional, irrelevant, spammy, threatening, discriminatory, abusive, or unlawful content.
We may also reject unsupported allegations stated as fact, conflicts of interest, attempts to manipulate ratings, and content that exposes sensitive or identifying information.
A negative rating is not itself a reason for rejection. Reviews do not have to be favourable, but they must be genuine, relevant, and expressed responsibly.
Independent moderation
New and materially edited reviews are checked before publication. A moderator may approve the review, request specific changes, reject it, or remove a previously published review when it no longer meets this policy.
Businesses cannot approve, edit, hide, or purchase the removal of customer reviews. They may publish one respectful response and report a specific policy concern for independent review.
Moderation decisions and business reports are recorded in an internal audit history.
Anonymity and account controls
A reviewer may choose to appear publicly as Anonymous visitor. The review remains linked privately to the verified Guru Guide account so moderators can enforce this policy.
Reviewers can edit or delete their own review from the Review centre. Edits return to moderation before appearing publicly.
Questions and challenges
Reviewers receive the reason when changes, rejection, or removal are required. Business reports must identify a policy concern rather than merely disagreeing with the rating.
If you believe a moderation decision is mistaken, contact info@theguruguide.co.uk with the listing and review details.
