Privacy policy
This policy explains how The Guru Guide handles personal data for visitors, account holders, practitioners, and people claiming or managing listings.
Who we are
The Guru Guide is a UK wellness directory that helps people discover practitioners and helps practitioners create, claim, and manage directory listings.
For privacy questions, contact info@theguruguide.co.uk.
Information we collect
We collect account details such as name, email address, sign-in status, email verification state, and platform role.
For practitioner listings, we collect business profile content, categories, contact details, website and social links, service information, publication state, claim requests, and related review notes.
When you write or respond to a review, we collect the review content, rating, service and approximate visit information you provide, moderation history, reports, and account signals used to prevent abuse. An anonymous public review remains linked to your account for moderators until you delete your account.
When paid membership features are used, payment and subscription handling is processed by Stripe. We store payment status and plan information, but we do not store full card details.
How we use information
We use information to run the directory, show public listing profiles, verify account access, review listing claims, manage paid plan access, prevent misuse, and respond to support requests.
We may use operational data to improve search, category coverage, listing quality, and platform reliability.
Public listing information
Published practitioner listings are visible to visitors and may be indexed by search engines. This can include the business name, description, category, service information, public contact details, location area, and links you choose to provide.
Published reviews, ratings, chosen display name or Anonymous visitor label, and business responses are public and may be indexed by search engines.
Draft, private, claim review, billing, and account administration data is not intended to be public.
Sharing and processors
We share data with service providers only where needed to operate the platform, including hosting, authentication, analytics, email delivery, and payment processing.
We may disclose information where required by law, to protect users, or to investigate misuse of the platform.
Your choices
You can update account and listing information from your management area where available.
You can edit or delete reviews you have written. If you delete your account without deleting a published review first, the review is retained without your name or account link; unpublished reviews are deleted.
You can ask us to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal data, subject to legal, security, and operational retention requirements.
Retention and security
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the directory, account management, legal, tax, audit, security, and dispute purposes.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data, but no internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Updates
We may update this policy as the platform changes. The latest version will be posted on this page.
